Yes, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I used to ditch breakfast in order to have more time to get things done before leaving for college. As a matter of fact, I usually ended up feeling quite unwell and I even fainted a few times in the middle of my P.E lessons. A year ago I decided that this had to change and that I needed to improve my healthy habits way more.
In my opinion, breakfast can be a very boring and forgettable meal. In fact, I’m more likely to skip breakfast If I don’t plan what I’m having a week ahead. Since I started taking it more seriously I’ve been feeling like never before. My moods and hunger at lunch time have seriously decreased and contrary to popular belief, skipping breakfast, lunch or dinner won’t help on your weight loss journey.
Today I’m sharing with you 5 quick and simple ideas that will be able to fill up your stomach and get you to work/college/UNI earlier than ever.
The easiest of my recipes. As I’ve got quite a few food allergies I’m currently having a lactose free (with additional boost of folic acid) milk. My favourite cereals are Kellogg’s so I always have a cup of cereals and half cup of milk. As it is quick, healthy and yummy I usually end up having this for breakfast during the week when I have UNI lectures.
PHILADELPHIA LIGHT TOASTIES & A CUP OF TEA
First, toast some wholemeal bread (I always take one loaf of bread) and then spread on it some Philadelphia light cheese. The reason I take Philadelphia light cheese is because milk, cheese and yogurts make my tummy feel funny because of the lactose. Apart from medical reasons, light cheese has less calories which means that if you’re feeling quite hungry taking another loaf of bread with some more light cheese should be totally fine. To go with this nice recipe, I always make myself a huge cup of black tea with a few drops of lactose free milk.
SCRAMBLED EGGS WITH TURKEY BREAST & A BIG CUP OF COFFEE
This is definitely my special weekend breakfast. I don’t really like eggs so that means that omelettes and fried eggs are off the table but I do seem to tolerate scrambled eggs every now and then. To camouflage the taste of eggs (sounded quite fancy, to be honest) I always add something that I obviously like so I mostly have my eggs with turkey breast. Last but not least, I treat myself to a cup of coffee with a few drops of milk (I decided to quit coffee on a daily basis- I still have a huge cup of coffee every now and then).
CUP OF TEA
This may sound weird but there are some days I’m just not feeling it. If I’m not really hungry and I don’t feel good at all, I just make myself a warm cup of Yorkshire Tea and pack a snack to eat on the way to any of my lectures. I’m currently obsessed with Bicentury Milk Chocolate Multicereal Bars and with rice cakes too!
FRUIT SALAD & HUGE GLASS OF ORANGE JUICE
I always try to eat fruit for breakfast. I often make myself a fruit salad which basically contains pear, apple, banana and sometimes kiwi. One of the many things I love about a good weekend breakfast is that I actually have time to squeeze a few oranges to fill a big glass of orange juice. I don’t have orange juices during the week as I haven’t got enough time and I don’t really like bottled juice.
What do you like having for breakfast? Are you a coffee or a tea person?
