Finding the perfect foundation is not always easy. Not all brands offer a wide fair or dark range of shades. There was even a time when I thought it was a burden having a very pale skin tone. I was obviously wrong and little did I know that there's usually an accurate method to find a product that matches your skin's needs.
Without doubt, there are plenty makeup trademarks to choose from but you must also know how to pick wisely your next base. Foundation quality is as important as your skincare's. We are talking about products which are applied directly on your skin. It's also very important to be sure about what your skin type is really like and what kind of foundation covers its needs.
I'm clearly no beauty guru so it's completely out of order for me to teach you how to buy the perfect foundation and which brands you should go for. Mainly because I have no idea. So what I'm about to tell you is the story of how I chose one of my favourite bases.
This is not a sponsored post and the foundation I've been using has its upsides and also its flaws. Of course. So without further ado, here we go. Reader, meet Clarins Everlasting Foundation+. Clarins Everlasting Foundation+, meet my lovely reader.
When I went foundation - shopping I never thought I would end up purchasing this one. I was looking for a product with the following characteristics:
- Good coverage
- Good quality
So I went to a few drugstores. No luck. Poor shade ranges. Abort mission. I tried at my local shopping centre. Good choice. And then I tested a few ones such as Chanel Perfection Lumière or Laura Mercier Silk Crème Moisturizing Photo Edition but I thought they were slightly overpriced in comparison to the ones I'd tried previously. So Clarins it was. Plus they had a shade that matched my skin tone.
The shop assistant basically persuaded me into trying this foundation. The bottle looked gorgeous and the promise of 18 hours of coverage was quite impressive, to say the least. So I tried it and I absolutely feel in love with it.
I spent over €30 on a product I thought was going to be the next big thing. I've been doing my makeup with this foundation for about three months. And my vision has changed. A bit. My opinion towards this product is now different but not in a negative way. It's of course a good foundation. But it doesn't provide what my skin claims to need.
After reading comments on the Clarins website and feelunique, I organized my thoughts about this product. To be honest, it's quite difficult to describe and rate it. This is basically what I think of it after months of testing it:
- It's true. It's a good coverage foundation. In fact, it's better than I expected.
- Longlasting? I don't think so. It stays put the bare minimum.
- I wanted something light. I was craving a foundation easy to apply. The consistency of the Everlasting Foundation+ is quite thick so that means a wet beauty blender might come in handy.
Overall, it's a good foundation. Maybe not the perfect one but that's alright. As I said at the beginning of this post, it's quite hard to find. This product is one I would easily go back to. I believe purchasing a Clarins mattifying powder could fix the Everlasting issue. So this is it.
